Great Ideas For South Beach Recipes
Whether you have been on the South Beach diet for a while or you are just getting started, you will realize that your eating habits have changed, perhaps dramatically. This is a unique opportunity for you to explore new foods and new methods of preparation, but it can be a little bewildering at first. With so many South Beach cookbooks and recipes out there, how can you figure out which ones are right for you?
If you have more traditional tastes, why not consider a South Beach-friendly meatloaf? Through using a liquid egg substitute, a meatloaf becomes an ideal (and delicious!) candidate for the main course at dinner. A meatloaf prepared in this fashion is a terrific change of pace and is optimal for phase two of the South Beach diet.
If you enjoy salads, the South Beach diet is ideal for you in a number of different ways, but you'll probably get sick of iceberg lettuce in short order. You need to make sure that you keep your salads lively and interesting, or you'll get bored and discouraged very quickly, but luckily enough, this is easy to do. A recipe for chopped salad with tuna is a wonderful lunch during the most restrictive phase one, and the combination of tuna with tomato, avocado and cucumber is a refreshing treat on a hot day.
If you find that you're missing potatoes, you should look into a variety of replacements for this traditional comfort food. One delicious alternative is cauliflower and you might be surprised at how truly versatile this vegetable really is. Four cups of cauliflower florets that have been steamed or microwaved and then pureed makes an excellent alternative to mashed potatoes, and is available starting in phase one. If you've missed the unique texture of potatoes and don't mind satisfying a sweet tooth at the same time, try eating sweet potatoes, which are delicious and amazingly good for you. Sweet potatoes make a terrific side dish to any phase two meal. One of the things about the South Beach diet that makes it exceptional is that it allows for snacking; all you have to do is make sure you're snacking healthily! During phase one, cherry tomatoes or heirloom tomatoes that have been halved and tossed with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, oregano and salt are a wonderful summer snack. This tasty treat is completely safe during all phases of the South Beach diet and you'll be delighted with them during the summer. If you grow tomatoes at all, this is not something you should miss out on! Remember that human beings crave variety and that we will get bored if we end up eating the same thing day in and day out. Make your South Beach diet a success by making sure you have a variety of recipes that will keep you interested in your nutrition!
